What’s Your Potential?
Many of my customers know that I am a sports fanatic. The NFL draft just ended over the weekend and many of the top college football players will get the opportunity to test their skills in the NFL. Many players will be payed millions of dollars based off their “potential”to be successful in the NFL.
Many players will succeed but unfortunately more will fail. So I like to ask you this question does potential work in the business world? Potential means capable of being or becoming. What is your business capable of becoming? Does it have room to grow? Are there ways you can improve your business?
Whether you’re a home based business, start-up or been in business for the past 10 years, your potential is what should keep you driving forward. You have to see yourself beyond what everyone else thinks or says about you. Potential just doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a methodical process that takes determination, planning, and vision which then metamorphisises itself into a successful operating company.
NFL players are similar to the business world because most players start training at a young age to build their foundation. As they become older the challenges become tougher and other players will begin to weed themselves out, but only the ones who stay committed, handle life challenges, and keep proper focus will continue to prosper. Once the few players reach the NFL, all those challenges and past experience comes to fruition and they will soon begin soon to reap the rewards that NFL will bring to them.
Once you realize your company’s potential do not let anything stand in your way from reaching that potential. If you get knock down get back up and keep fighting because your success depends on it.

Sometimes potential can only take your company so far. Would you agree that resources, financial responsibilty and smart decision making is really the key to becoming a successful business. Many times I look at my business and realize that I am almost there but in order for me to get over that hump I need the resources to do it. What suggestions would you have for a small company who doesn’t have alot of cash flow but needs a marketing strategy do? I mean I have a website my customers love my products but I need more customers coming in my door.

Thank you for your comments, I do agree that resources, financial responsibility, and smart decision making is an essential component to becoming a successful business. However, I do believe perseverance, vision, and determination plays a more important role in unleashing your potential for a business to become successful.
I would feel confident saying that 99% people who start a business feel that they have the potential to become successful. Truth is success is not easy, it takes hard work and dedication and unfortunately most business owners are not willing to work that hard. The saying “if you build it they will come” is not true in the business world.
Most people fear the unknown, not knowing if their business will be successful, not knowing if this marketing strategy will work, not knowing if this guy on this blog knows what he’s talking about, etc. Take a Rubik’s cube for example, if I told you that if you figure out this Rubik’s cube no matter how long it takes there will be a 100 million dollar check inside for you. Now since there is no unknown element involved your mind will begin working towards the ultimate goal, which is figuring that Rubik’s cube out. If I didn’t tell you about the 100 million dollar check you probably won’t works as hard to figure it out. Works the same for a business, the prize is at the end waiting for you what will you do to go get it.
As for your business David, if you have great products you need to begin reaching out to your customers by putting them into the know. Low cost ways of doing this is door hangers with couple of picture of your products. Also you may try having a customer appreciation day were you give out food and have specials for customers, this is great way to generate buzz because people always are looking for something to do. You are absolutely right! Because there so many different things to do on the internet no one really knows what businesses are serious and which one are frauds. There is plenty of money to be made online but you have every individual has to understand what they are getting into and become more educated about the opportunity they are exploring.
